The Warmth Delivery Man
While the roofer and painter were working on-site, I did my annual firewood delivery. I delivered oak firewood that had been dried for two years to Evo Home’s wood stove owners.
It’s been over ten years since I started delivering high-quality firewood. More and more homeowners have begun sourcing their own firewood, and since Evo Home stopped building new houses three years ago, my delivery destinations have gradually decreased. Honestly, I’m grateful for that. This old “retired” man’s strength and motivation are running low these days.
There’s plenty of firewood in this world — the problem is, it’s rarely *dry*. That’s why I dry hardwoods like oak for two years, and softwoods like larch for one year before burning them.
What matters most is this one simple truth:
“Undried firewood is worse than garbage.”
This Evo Home house is now 14 years old. The owner finally decided to secure his own fuel — which is great — but he went all out and bought an entire truckload of oak logs to cut and split himself. I can’t imagine how many years’ worth of wood that is. He’s a veterinarian, yet his scale of operation is wild. Makes me laugh.
Once the oak delivery is done, I move on to larch firewood deliveries…
Even though the number of deliveries has gone down, it’s still hard work.
Seriously, I hope everyone learns to handle it themselves soon.
On the way back from a delivery, I stopped my truck — couldn’t resist the beautiful Hokkaido scenery.
Japan’s first female LDP president has been born.
I wonder if Ms. Takaichi could become Japan’s own Giorgia Meloni.
This is my ideal scenario. (as of Oct. 8, 1:00 PM)
Komeito: leaves the coalition
Takaichi: wins runoff, becomes Prime Minister
Kokumin & Ishin: cooperate on a policy-by-policy basis
Extraordinary Diet session: tax cuts, 1.03M reform, cost-of-living relief
December: dissolves the Diet while support is high → seeks public mandate
