The AI Revolution Will Affect 60% of Jobs.

Evohome’s 111th and final custom home: the Kalsari House.
The roof is done, and the first coat of exterior mortar has just gone on.

Work in progress.
This kind of work — I don’t believe the day will ever come when physical AI can imitate it.
I’ve always respected craftsmen.
But most builders have spent years beating craftsmen’s pay down and tossing them aside like disposable pawns.
Now, even if those same builders put on a honeyed voice and say, ‘We humbly ask for your kind cooperation,’ I’d bet most craftsmen will simply ignore them.
A while back, clients visiting my job sites would often say:
‘Carpenters are incredible! Working way up there, carrying all that weight!’
‘Yes, they are incredible. So why not make your own child a carpenter?’
‘Oh, no — we’d rather they get something stable. A government job…’
Well then — is it really that stable?

A plastering technique called sanpo-daki — the three-sided embrace.
The windows sit recessed, set back from the face of the wall.
There are several reasons, but this is a first-and-last experiment I arrived at through decades of building in this corner of Hokkaido, where the winters are damn cold and the summers are damn hot.
If it fails, sorry.
