Moomin Mailbox

The owner of evohome’s 111th and final house, “Kalsari House,” brought over this mailbox.

Apparently, this is the one they want installed.

I can’t believe they bought such an expensive mailbox. (laughs)

We’ll make sure to build a proper concrete foundation and install it securely.

This is what the mailbox looks like.

Come to think of it, I once built a house called “The House Where the Moomins Live.”

I can’t remember exactly when that was.

With inflation having pushed construction costs this high, this house must now be worth an extraordinary amount.

Installing a huge number of cabinet doors at the home of the president of the largest real estate company in our city.

These are inset cabinet doors. The doors sit inside the cabinet boxes, leaving the front edges of the boxes visible. The clearance is only 2 millimetres on every side. If either the cabinet box or the door is even slightly distorted, the door simply will not fit. Even with adjustable hinges, there is almost no room for adjustment. (laughs) I installed 29 of these doors. Fortunately, I’m rather good at this, so every one of them fitted perfectly. (laughs)

Inset cabinet doors are quite difficult to build and install properly.

So, if you are currently building a house and happen to see this, please do not ask your builder to copy it.

That might qualify as a mild form of workplace harassment.

And no, you will not find work like this in the catalogue of a mass-market building-materials manufacturer.

The marble tiles on the kitchen worktop and wall, the round range hood, and the green inset cabinet doors all work beautifully together.

The decorative moulding above the wall cabinets also adds a lovely finishing touch.

This video shows the moulding being made for the frames around the entrance mirror and bathroom mirror.

Small custom details like these are one of my specialties, and you can find them throughout the house.
