WE GO UP
Exterior maintenance is finally done, and the scaffolding is being dismantled.
Since our crew is way too busy, I asked Secto for backup, and we worked together with two trucks.
Their truck is an enviable rare spec — a 5-section crane with rear outriggers.
Ours is from 2004, while Secto’s is a 2022 model.
Why does the rookie get the better truck than Evo? (laugh)
The metal roof was just about due for repainting…
So we re-roofed it with Oakridge Super shingles.
It cost an extra 1 million yen, but there’s no need for repainting in 10 years.
Not in 20 years. Not even in 30 years.
Considering inflation, the cost will definitely pay off within 10 years.
If we had used shingles when the house was built, we could’ve avoided the extra cost,
but back then the technique wasn’t reliable enough to adopt.
Sorry about that.
Recently, more homes are switching to shingles—
but just to be clear, not *every* shingle is good. Please be careful.
We used Adox (epoxy resin) to treat the cracks in the exterior wall…
Then applied Art-Pare for the surface finish.
Here’s the repair process:
Rub Adox (epoxy resin) into the crack.
The liquid seeps deep into the capillaries,
restoring the bond of the mortar — the same technique used to prevent tunnel concrete collapse.
It may look plain, but this step is crucial.
After it’s fully cured, apply Art-Pare as a topcoat and it’ll look brand new again.
(The slight color difference will naturally blend in after about a year.)
The problem isn’t that things break —
the problem is choosing materials that *can’t* be repaired.
After ten years, siding and galvalume panels are usually discontinued.
But Art-Pare can always be repaired by hand.
That’s why we’ve been using it for over 20 years.
I do the repairs myself,
but Adox is trickier to handle than it looks.
So don’t try this at home, kids.
Some types of Adox are classified as hazardous substances and require proper certification to handle.
And here it is — the new song!
Feels like a video game cutscene, and it’s insanely cool.
Everyone, just give it one listen. You won’t regret it.
